Message from Our Parent Coordinator

My name is Ms. De Los Santos. I am the Parent Coordinator at Bushwick Leaders High School. I am extremely excited to work with you all and excited to see what this year has in store. We encourage all parents to be actively involved in their children’s education. We strongly believe that the key to a student’s academic success is a parent or guardian who is an active school community member. I look forward to working with each you this coming year and encourage you to take a moment to attend a workshop or an event. You are a valuable member of our school community whose support we need to help every single student achieve academic excellence.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for workshops, events or activities. Everyone school community member is welcomed to participate, and all ideas are valued. I can be reached at (718-366-7120, ext 1551) Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm. Thank you.

Emergency Contact Information/Digital Blue card

It is extremely important that parents/guardians share the most current emergency contact information for their child with our school. Emergencies do happen and being able to immediately contact a parent/guardian in such an event is critical. For this reason we ask that you share and update your child’s emergency contact information using our digital blue card system here: http://mybluecard.org/. The digital blue card makes it much easier to keep your child’s contact information up to date. Directions for creating a digital blue card are shared here. If you need more assistance setting up your child’s digital blue card please reach out to our Parent Coordinator, Melissa De Los Santos.

Enrollment

If your child needs to be enrolled in a high school in any of the five boroughs, please complete and submit the form below to set up an appointment with the family welcome center.

Parent Engagement

There are a variety of ways for parents to get involved in their child’s academic experience at Bushwick Leaders high School including parent-teacher conferences, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings and School Leadership Team (SLT) meetings. Participating in these meetings/conferences along with other events that we hold throughout the year will not only help your child succeed academically but will also help us improve our school community. Your voice matters so we highly encourage you to get involved. For more information about parent-teacher conferences, PTA and SLT, see below.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences are held throughout the year and a great way for parents to engage with our school community. During parent-teacher conferences parents/guardians have an opportunity to speak with teachers and other school staff members about their child’s academic progress. Please refer to our school calendar on our website for the dates of parent-teacher conferences for the school year. More information about parent-teacher conferences will be shared with parents/guardians using KinVolved.

PTA

The PTA is a group of individuals that help advocate for young adults and parents. PTA links families to important school and community information. PTA hosts fun, education clubs, programs, and events for our families. We meet once a month. Please refer to our school calendar on our website for the dates of parent-teacher conferences for the school year. For more information about PTA please see here:
